My new wife and I arrived at the Mayfair to celebrate being newly weds in a charming inn on the beach front. The pictures of the hotel are extremely deceiving as when you walk in it smells like mold and it is dark like a dungeon. However, due to the online pictures we gave it a shot anyways. The room was much smaller than we were lead to believe however, again we decided to make the best of it as we were newly weds and the view was great. We were at the hotel for all of maybe 3 hours when we had a family emergency and had to check out. When we called and spoke to Ken, a manager he told us that he could not refund even half of the 140 that we had paid. Ken also openly admitted to my wife and I that the hotel is "really hurting" and that most people "don't stay long" whatever that means. Fair warning, do not book here the pictures are much better than what you actually get and if you run into our situation, good luck even getting 50% of what you paid back. Had to actually put a star rating in but the quality of this hotel is 0.

I gave it a 3 strictly because of location. It's cool. The only really good point is - it's right by the water. But i feel management could invest in some major upgrades especially to the interior. It's not 'Mayfair-ish'. The name 'Mayfair' denotes top class, like the famous Mayfair in London.

Aside from it being a firetrap if you like bugs and a we don't care attitude like so many have said it's at the beach.

This place should be tore down, and made into something more useful

This is not really a hotel. It's more of a boarding room style building. If you don't care for an ambiance and such and don't mind spending extra bucks for a good location, then this is for you.

Very friendly, great people, great location, right across from the ocean...if convenience to the beach is your priority, this is it. Great pool, too!

First look was interesting. Seemingly had character and really embracing the 1920's charm. But the building has a weird odor, the hallway is scary, and the rooms are tiny. Plus the shower is literally at the foot of the bed, absolutely no privacy for showering. The building is huge and upon exploring discovered it was also a boarding house where residents rented rooms and had community bathrooms. It literally felt like I was stayinng at the hotel in American horror story! I wouldn't have felt safe being without my guy friend. We were in town for a wedding and spent very little time in the room but on the last day there I saw a cockroach in the sink cabinet in the middle of the day! Maybe I'm naive but I always thought roaches hid during the day and stayed primarily on the first floors or where food was. We had no food in there and were on the second floor. There were also weird people always standing around out front!
